Music at Oakmont takes place in the beautiful Northern California retirement community at Oakmont, in the scenic wine country of Sonoma Valley. Chamber music by world-class performers are presented once a month, from October through May of each year. The series is managed by a small group of dedicated and expert Oakmont resident volunteers who are committed to providing the very best in live classical music for an affordable admission price. The difference between ticket revenue and the actual cost of the performances comes from generous donors and corporate sponsors. Concerts are open to all Oakmont residents and their invited guests.
Building on the vision of former Oakmont resident Bob Hayden, Music at Oakmont is a fully professional concert series, attracting top-rated players and their managements not only from the San Francisco Bay Area but also from major US and international cities. Concerts take place in Berger Center in Oakmont, which boasts an excellent Yamaha concert grand piano.
Bios of artists and program notes appear in the Oakmont News during the month before each concert, as well as in email notifications.
Music at Oakmont’s new season launched Oct. 10 in Berger Auditorium with a concert of musical contrasts. 100 attended the first of six concerts in the splendid series that began 34 years ago with the insouciant impresario founder Robert Hayden.
