Kevin Kwan Loucks has been called “impeccable” (La Presse, Montreal), “a shining talent” (Völser Zeitung, Italy), and a pianist of “exhilarating polish, unity and engagement” (The Orange County Register, California). Featured on National Public Radio’s Performance Today, he has earned ovations from Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, to Prösels Castle in Italy, the Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, and Lichtenstein Palace in Prague. He was a top prize winner at the Schlern International Competition in Italy, the International Chamber Music Ensemble Competition in Boston, and the 2012 American Prize in Piano Performance, and was featured as guest artist at the Laguna Beach Chamber Music Festival in California, the Daejeon Chamber Music Festival in South Korea, the Moulin d’Andé in France, and the Montreal Chamber Music Festival in Canada. He was Artist-in-Residence at The Orange County Great Park in California where he was Founder and Artistic Director of the critically-acclaimed Chamber Music Series at the Palm Court Arts Complex, and is currently Principal Artist-in-Residence for the International Arts Mentoring Program in South Korea which brings music and arts to underprivileged children across Asia. He is also Co-Founder and Artistic Director of Chamber Music | OC, one of the most dynamic classical music projects in the country dedicated to advancing the art of chamber music through performance, education, and community.
As a collaborative artist, Kevin Kwan Loucks has appeared in recital with distinguished musicians Rachel Barton Pine, Denis Brott, James Campbell, Colin Carr, Alan Kay, Edgar Meyer, Frank Morelli, Lara St. John, Roger Tapping, Rafael Wallfisch, and Carol Wincenc, and has also been featured in collaborations with the Afiara, Cecilia, and Jupiter String Quartets. Kevin Kwan Loucks and his wife, violinist Iryna Krechkovsky, are a renowned violin/piano duo and Winners of the prestigious 2012 Beverly Hills Auditions. They were also appointed co-music directors of the Los Angeles new music group Synchromy, and are founding members of Trio Céleste with cellist Ross Gasworth, recently appointed Artists-in-Residence at the Claire Trevor School of the Arts at the University of California, Irvine. He also performs as a member of Gruppo Montebello, an All‐Star Ensemble of acclaimed Banff Centre faculty and alumni based in Canada.
A Korean-American and graduate of The Juilliard School and Claire Trevor School of the Arts at the University of California, Irvine, Kevin Kwan Loucks is an alumnus of programs at the Aspen Music Festival, Music@Menlo, and The Banff Centre. He is completing his Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Stony Brook University where he served as head of Piano for the Pre- College Division and teaching assistant for both the Emerson String Quartet and the Graduate Chamber Music Program. His teachers include Julian Martin, Nina Scolnik, and Christina Dahl. |
